Splash-Worthy Looks for Your Feet

I’ve often heard the saying “April showers bring May flowers”.  But, I say April showers bring soggy socks and cold wet feet…unless you happen to be equipped with a great pair of rain boots.  With April right around the corner I’d like to find the perfect ones to invest in.

The search has been narrowed to a few pairs that I think would be great additions to my wardrobe.  Hunter’s Wellington rain boot is a classic which everyone seems to have.  Last Spring they teamed up with Jimmy Choo and created a rain boot that maintained the standard Hunter look while adding a croc embossed texture to the boot and the Choo name to the label. These boots come in multiple colors from standard black to fire engine red as well as short and tall heights.  At $425 these boots are at the pricier end of the rain boot category but worth it because they’re classic enough to last for years to come.      Your browser may not support display of this image.

My edgier side tells me to go for Burberry’s Chain-embellished Wellington boot (pictured above).  The chains give a bit of a punk vibe to the glossy $395 footwear.  For Burberry this is a step away from their traditional preppy plaid pattern that’s typical of their rain boots.

Last on my list is Fendi’s Graffiti rain boot.  I think it’s a fun option to throw into the mix.   For $225 this colorful print will brighten up any outfit on a rainy day.  This boot also gives you a little bit of height with its 2 inch mini wedge heel.

The hard part is now deciding which one to add to my closet. Which do you like most and why? Drop us a note in the comments section!

Alexander McQueen Skull Print Canvas Shopper

All this talk of the CFDA Awards got me thinking of our dear Alexander McQueen and his immense influence. Do you remember his signature skull print scarf? The design was hailed for the mixture of dark subject matter vs. light chiffon texture. McQueen would later incorporate the design in his apparel, accessories, footwear and skull clutches.

The Alexander McQueen Skull Print Canvas Shopper is one of his last creations that is very similar to the famed scarf. You can now buy it through Bergdorf Goodman for $650.

David Hoey Curates Bergdorf's Holiday Windows

David Hoey and his team at Bergdorf Goodman are serving up an array of visual treats for their winter window displays. The theme this time is "Curiouser and Curiouser," with displays inspired by the works of Lewis Carroll. What most people don't realize is that the project takes upwards of a year to conceive and execute, and the windows themselves take six months to produce.

"The fashion that eventually goes into the window is not decided upon when we land on a theme," explained Hoey. "First, we choose an idea and stick with it. The further along in the year we get, we start looking at the runway shows and hope we can find things to fit our theme. Miraculously, we always luck out!" McQueen, will go in the card game room, featured alongside kings and jokers.

"The wooden staircase room" resembles a jigsaw puzzle pieced together with delicate staircases from a bevy of dollhouses, which took a year and a half to collect, scouring all corners of the world from tiny antique stores to eBay.

If you'd like to venture into the other side of the looking glass, The Bergdorf windows will be on display  starting today- Friday, November 20th until January 6th.

Bergdorf Goodman Wants You To Know The Secrets Behind Chanel

If you missed it over the weekend- the second floor at Bergdorf Goodman will feature "Secrets of the Chanel Jacket," an installation of archive jackets, handbags and accessories! "The exhibit tells the story of Mademoiselle Chanel's iconic creations, outlining the label's evolution from fluid jersey designs, to tweed and button and gold chain detailing." The installation aims to reveal the history behind the brand and draw a deeper connection between Coco and the way Karl Lagerfeld has beautifully expanded on her vision.

On display will be a photo exhibit of Coco Chanel, Vanessa Paradis, Romy Schneider, Anna Mouglalis and Barbie wearing the Chanel jacket, in addition to archive selections of shoes and handbags from Coco Chanel's personal collection. Visitors can also get a glimpse of the original 1957 two toned slingback heel in beige and black.

If interested, head on over there today because the exhibit ends This evening (October 19th).  Also through October 19, three of the department store's windows will house a Chanel tribute with oversized iconic items like the Chanel No. 5 bottle and the quilted jacket.
