Plan on being in downtown NYC? Stop by the Seaport. Last week, the South Street Seaport opened its exhibit "DECODENCE: Legendary Interiors and Illustrious Travelers aboard the SS Normandie." The S.S. Normandie sank during World War II, but troops managed to preserve some of its designer fitted furniture. Now, you can head over to check out the art-deco designs that filled up the ship! Featured designers include: Hermès, Lalique, and Jean Patou.
If you're uptown- visit the Cooper-Hewitt Museum for the "Quicktake: Rodarte" installation, which is only around for a few more weekends.
Or, plan ahead! While the fashion world is still mourning the loss of Alexander McQueen, you can celebrate his life and work. Daphne Guinness plans to exhibit her Alexander McQueen collection at FIT in September 2011. [The Thread]
