Media Newsbriefs: Haiti Needs Your Help; How's Obama Doing?; LG Texting Championship; Conan vs. Leno

President Obama addressed the media and Haitian President Rene Preval in a news conference yesterday afternoon. He assured the public that the administration is pulling out all stops to make relief efforts in Haiti go smoothly. Obama will also pen a cover story for Newsweek on the topic and first lady Michelle Obama is appearing in a public service campaign for the Ad Council, which the organization told the Times is its "fastest response to a disaster."

After 1 year in the making, how do you feel about our President? Former Hillary Clinton campaign chief strategist, Mark Penn gives his take on President Obama's first year in an interview with the Chicago Tribune. Penn says "It's only been a year and people are uneasy but opinion is not yet set and is quite mushy." Read the full interview [here].

How fast and accurately can you text? I bet it isn't faster than the winners of LG Mobile's first ever World Cup texting competition. Young-Ho Bae, 18, and Mok-Min Ha, 17 from Korea split $100,000 in prize money by being textaholics. According to the [release], "contestants were tasked with the challenge of typing in phrases on their LG mobile devices exactly as they appeared on nearby LG plasma screens with no typos or abbreviations while trying to be quicker than their opponents."

Who knew we'd see the dramatic exit of Conan O'Brien from NBC's "Tonight Show? "After a week full of insult-slinging from their respective shows, Jay Leno and O'Brien could not reach a mutually beneficial deal to reinstate Leno at the 11:35 slot and push O'Brien back till 12:05. While [The Daily Beast reports that] O'Brien is definitely leaving NBC, (exit date TBD), he's reportedly going to receive an undisclosed large lump sum to ease the pain of his departure. #teamconan

Mariah Carey Exposes Her Latina Roots

In a recent vistit to Lopez Tonight, George Lopez asks Mariah to spill the beans on her ethnic background. The entire conversation was prompted by a scene from Carey's new film, Precious, where the main character (Gabourey Sidibe) asks the pop star "What color are you?" Lopez points out that he is sure Carey has been getting this question her whole life, before asking, "So, what color are you?"

Do you want to know what she claims? Check the video below.

Snoop Dogg On Conan O'Brien

I think Conan is one of the funniest people on TV, but I'd never seen him with Snoop. The two are hilarious (and extremely tall)! Check it out.

ps: Had you ever heard of the Snoop GPS?

Wendy Williams for T Magazine

Most people have beef with Wendy, but I can't help but like her. Yep, I said it. She makes me laugh in the morning, her signature "How You Doin?" has been adopted by all people & she doesn't seem to take herself too seriously. Last Week T Magazine featured a wonderful image of Ms. Wendy (shot by Ruven Afandor).

To check out her article addressing her infamous Whitney Houston interview, being a female drag queen and her experience in charm school.... click the link below!
